The Model + Waxup Protocol
This is IMHO the best protocol for preparing a case for planning implants (and abutments) using SIMPLANT (or other software). Very easy to implement giving optimal results not depending on the skills of the CAD/CAM technician doing the STL(s) registration(s) and most important, very easy to control by the dentist visually. To be used in conjunction with "The Cotton Rolls Protocol" (in previous item). See this LINK for a full description of the options, samples and how it is done.

Actual (post-op) vs. Planned Implants in 3D
In case you have a post-op CT, here you have a great way to see and evaluate in 3D the delta between the implants planned and the actual (real) implants positions.

WHAT YOU NEED TO PROVIDE:
- The SIMPLANT .sof file (this is the actual file uploaded to SIMPLANT while ordering a guide)
- A post-op CT in DICOM format (no matter the denture status)
DISCLAIMER: This is not a recommendation to do an extra CT, it is intended for cases a post-op CT was performed anyway for other reasons.

Dual Scan vs. Single Scan

Dual Scan versus Single Scan. In fact, this is a single scan radio-opaque scannoguide masked as base-plate (green) and teeth (red) and again as a single (dual-scan like) stent (all green) for comparison purposes.
Dual Scan: A radiolucent stent with radiographic markers (Gutta-percha or other). Two CTs are needed, patient+stent and stent alone.
Single Scan: A radio-opaque stent (base-plate 10% Barium Sulfate - teeth 30% Barium Sulfate). One CT patient+stent is needed.

SimPlant Study Club - Carlton Tel Aviv
Yesterday (31 Aug 2010) we had probably the best SimPlant event (Study Club) in the past years. Press HERE for the pictures.Thanks to Dr. Barry Marshak who headed the meeting and to all the participants.
This is the way to go: To offer an open platform to share knowledge and experience (good and bad), by the SimPlant users themselves.
Question: Can this be done via the Web? Forums? Webmeetings? Video-conferences? I'm not sure. Maybe the answer is: You Can't. There is no replacement to people sharing the same interest getting together...
