A Real Revolution?

I often hear these questions:
- Is this a real Revolution all the issues around CT Guidance?
- Aren't you exagerating a little bit in order to promote just a new model of dental kits?

Let's see. This will happen to you the moment you will start using 3D Guidance Technologies (as SimPlant, The Navigator System, other 3D technologies):

New SimPlant OMS

SimPlant OMS (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) is a new (optional) simulation module on top of SimPlant, replacing SimPlant CMF. It's purpose is bite corrections simulations and it is targeted mainly to orthognathic surgeons.

SimPlant OMS permits to digitalize the patient’s treatment starting from the CT, digitalized stone models, virtual planning, the use of digital wafers, virtual occludator, photo-mapping, etc.

SimPlant Nostalgia and Roots

Now that SimPlant Version 12 is under Beta tests, it is a good time to go back half of the versions to Ver 6.0 and remember all the basic features that made SimPlant even then (1999), the most advanced implant planning software in the world.

As all software developers know one of the toughest challenges in software development is what to do in the next version when you already have a state-of-the-art piece of software. Sometimes better is the worst enemy of good.

In order to really work with SIM/Plant Ver 6.0 press here to download a VMWare Application containing Windows 95 and SIM/Plant Ver 6.0. You will need also to download the VMWare Player from here. This should be "Exhibit A" in a future CT Guidance Museum, so I hope no one will complain about license issues here. BIOMET 3i and Materialise Navigator System

You can imagine the excitement at H.A. Systems (BIOMET3i and SimPlant official distributors in Israel) from the announcement of the Navigator System, the new 3i platform for Computer Guided Implant Therapy, embedding both state-of-the-art technologies: 3i components and SimPlant software.

The Navigator System consists of the SimPlant software for 3D diagnostic and implant planning, a Surgical Kit for the clinician and a Lab Kit for the dental technician in order to prepare the prosthesis prior to the surgery, including hex orientation.

ScannoGuide Preparation

The ScannoGuide also known as Radiological Template or CT Guide, is the first and probably the most important ingredient for a successful SimPlant implementation. Advanced SimPlant users can use the Virtual Teeth feature to mimic a tooth setup and skip (in some cases) this ScannoGuide step.

From Real to Virtual to Real

Click here for a series of pictures showing several tests made in Israel to check the accuracy of the software and stereolithographic models compared to the real bone morphology. In these tests the Bone-supported SurgiGuide was also cut into two to see how each part fits in the jaw model and on top of the bone itself. I believe the pictures are enough, no explanations are needed.
